The International Trade Center Triathlon, celebrating it's 5th anniversay on September 22, 2001 offers that rare combination of high end amenities and an exhilarating, very difficult athletic experience. It is unique in two respects:
1) NO SWIM...it offers the non-swimmer the opportunity to compete in a triathlon at a high level and not have to worry about sinking like a stone. Our stages are Mountain Bike (14K), Canoe (4K) and Run (5K)
2) You may compete as an individual or as a member of a two or four person relay team.
Individual does in order: Bike, Canoe, Run
2 Person: A bikes
A and B canoe in same canoe
B Runs
4 Person: A Bikes
B and C canoe in same canoe
D Runs
The 4 person is designed for families and casual athletes to be inclusive.
Each type ( 1,2,4 ) is called an entity.
Event is limited to 375 entitities. We will probably end up with 265
individuals,
90 two person teams and 30 four person teams. A total of about 575 athletes.
Interesting details:
Event will be chip scored.
Each biker rates his own skill level which determines which bike wave he or
she starts in. Fastest go earliest within their entity minimizing passing
problems on any of our three very tough, mostly single track hills. Their
are 6 wave starts, one every 7 minutes. Each wave passes the start area
giving the spectators a great show.
We also have a Kids Tri featuring run, bike and obstacle course ( the finale
for all 1000 assembled, just before the awards ceremony).
